What Does TEFL Job Placement Support in Thailand Actually Include?
Completing a TEFL qualification is an important achievement, but for many new teachers, the next step can feel just as challenging. Finding the right school, arranging a visa and Work Permit, securing accommodation and preparing for life in a Thai classroom can be difficult to manage on your own.
At TesolTree, job placement support is personal. It is not simply about introducing a graduate to an employer and then stepping away. We are a school and education provider working directly with schools and English programmes throughout Thailand. When suitable graduates of our Trinity CertTESOL course go on to work with us, they become part of the TesolTree teaching team.
This means our support can continue after you have completed the Trinity CertTESOL–and teachers know who they can contact when they need help.
Help with visas, work permits and other administration

A central member of our support team is Ms. Opal, who has worked with TesolTree for eight years. During that time, she has gained extensive experience working with Immigration, government documentation and Thai schools across the country.
Thailand’s visa and Work Permit procedures can sometimes feel like a minefield, particularly for someone dealing with them for the first time. Requirements can vary according to an individual’s circumstances, and the process involves coordination between the teacher, TesolTree, the placement school and different government offices.
Opal helps teachers understand which documents they need and guides them through each stage of the process. This includes assistance with obtaining the correct Non-Immigrant B visa and Work Permit, as well as ongoing advice about matters such as immigration reporting, visa extensions and re-entry permits.
Having an experienced person to speak to can make a significant difference. Instead of being handed a list of documents and expected to manage everything alone, teachers have someone who understands both the official requirements and the practical realities of dealing with schools and administrative offices in Thailand.
Preparing for a school placement in Thailand

Before beginning work, teachers are helped to understand their placement, responsibilities, contract and school environment. Orientation may include information about Thai culture, the Thai education system, school expectations and the practical realities of working with Thai students and colleagues.
We also aim to match teachers with placements that are appropriate for their professional and personal circumstances. Different teachers may be suited to different age groups, locations and types of school, so placement support should involve more than simply filling an available position.
Relocating to a new province or an unfamiliar part of Bangkok can also be daunting. Depending on the placement, TesolTree may provide accommodation or help teachers find somewhere suitable to live. Practical assistance can also include opening a Thai bank account, arranging health insurance and becoming familiar with the local area.
Ongoing academic support

Our support does not end once the paperwork is complete and the teacher enters the classroom.
Our lead trainer, Terry, has more than 20 years of experience teaching and training teachers in Thailand. This means that his support is based not only on academic knowledge, but also on a detailed understanding of Thai schools, classrooms and the challenges teachers may encounter while adapting to a new educational and cultural environment.
Terry provides ongoing academic support to help teachers develop their skills and confidence. Newly qualified teachers will inevitably encounter situations that could not be fully anticipated during their training. They may need advice about lesson planning, classroom management, curriculum delivery, assessment or adapting lessons for students with different abilities.
Teachers may also receive informal classroom observations followed by constructive feedback. The purpose is developmental: to recognise what is working well, identify areas for improvement and help each teacher continue progressing after completing the Trinity CertTESOL.
This continuing relationship is especially valuable during the first few months of teaching, when even well-trained teachers are still learning how to apply their knowledge within a particular school and cultural environment.
Becoming part of the TesolTree team

Most importantly, teachers working with TesolTree are not left to manage difficulties alone. Opal, Terry and the wider TesolTree team remain available to answer questions, communicate with the placement school and help resolve misunderstandings or practical problems.
Of course, no organisation can ensure that every day in a school will be straightforward. Teaching overseas requires flexibility, patience and personal responsibility. However, knowing that experienced people are available to offer guidance can make the transition considerably easier.
For us, job placement is not the end of the Trinity CertTESOL journey. It is the next stage: helping our graduates settle into Thailand, work legally, develop as teachers and feel that they are genuinely part of a team.
